What She Said: The Art of Pauline Kael

ROB GARVER – Director, Producer, Editor

Rob is a New York-based filmmaker who has written, produced, and directed several short films that have been screened in local New York cinemas, and aired on cable television. Films include: COMIC BELIEF, a documentary profile of cartoonist Dan Piraro; THE MAN IN THE YELLOW CAP; and TWO ROADS FROM BELFAST, MAINE, a short narrative that has aired on the Classic Arts Showcase cable network. He graduated from Northwestern University. 

SARAH JESSICA PARKER – Actress (voice of Pauline Kael)

Sarah is an American actress, producer, and designer. She is known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw on the HBO series SEX AND THE CITY (1998–2004). She won two Emmy Awards for the show: one for Outstanding Comedy Series as producer in 2001, and another for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2004. Her films include FOOTLOOSE, STATE AND MAIN, ED WOOD, and ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME, as well as SEX AND THE CITY (2008) and SEX AND THE CITY 2 (2010). She has also won four Golden Globe awards. 

RICK BAITZ – Composer

Rick Baitz composes for the moving image, the concert hall, dance and theater. Credits include HBO’s “The Vagina Monologues” and “Life Afterlife,” and the scores for several immersive museum installations, including “24 Hours That Changed History” (2016) for the FDR Presidential Library and Museum, and three soundtracks for the recently-unveiled Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, with voice-overs by Oprah Winfrey. Other media credits include National Geographic’s award-winning special “The NewChimpanzees”, and the Sundance-honored “The Education of Shelby Knox.” Rick’s CD“Into Light” was released in 2018 on Innova Recordings

GLEN ZIPPER – Producer

Glen is a founding partner with Zipper Bros Films and formerly an Assistant State Prosecutor in Hudson County, New Jersey. In addition to producing the Academy Award®-winning documentary UNDEFEATED, Glen produced BETTING ON ZERO for director Ted Braun, the non-fiction horror film THE NIGHTMARE for director Rodney Ascher, DEEP WEB for director Alex Winter, and ALL THINGS MUST PASS for director Colin Hanks.   

Glen is currently producing a multi-part MUHAMMAD ALI documentary for HBO directed by Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day"), a multi-part ELVIS PRESLEY documentary for HBO directed by Thom Zimny ("The Promise: The Making of Darkness On the Edge of Town"), a Cinemax comedy/documentary series titled TALES FROM THE TOUR BUS directed by Mike Judge, LEAD AND COPPER, a feature documentary film on the Flint Water Crisis, alongside Executive Producers Paul Haggis and Michael Nozik, as well as producing the feature length documentary TREAD with director Paul Solet ("Grace") and producer Doug Liman.

DOUG BLUSH – Co-Producer & Supervising Editor

Doug is known for his work on THE INVISIBLE WAR, THE HUNTING GROUND, and 20 FEET FROM STARDOM, the 2013 Oscar winner for Best Documentary, and ICARUS, a documentary on Russian sports doping that sold at Sundance in 2017 for $5 million. With over twenty years as an award-winning filmmaker, Doug is currently focusing on top level documentary features and independent film productions through his Los Angeles-based company, MadPix, Inc.  Doug was also an Executive producer on PERIOD. END OF SENTENCE., the Oscar-wining short live action film from 2019.

VINCENT ELLIS – Director of Photography

An award-winning Director of Photography with over twenty-five years of experience in film and television, Vince was the DP on the top-rated crime series, FORENSIC FILES, with over 300 episodes to his credit. He has also lensed documentaries and specials for Investigative Discovery and The Sci-Fi Channel, as well as numerous commercial and ad agency campaigns.

RICH REMSBERG – Archival Researcher

Rich is an Emmy Award-winning researcher with more than 100 production credits. He is one of the country’s top researchers for documentary films, TV programs, and museum exhibits. Some of his films include THE BANDIT, HAPPY VALLEY, THE LIVING WEAPON, ANITA, and JOHNNY CASH AT FOLSOM PRISON.

MELANIE VI LEVY – Contributing Editor

Melanie was the editor on ROSEANNE FOR PRESIDENT (2015) and THE GROWING SEASON (2015). She has worked on projects supported by NYSCA, The Ms. Foundation for Women, The Ford Foundation, and the MacArthur Foundation. As an editor she has contributed to features including KIVALINA PEOPLE (supported by NAPT, Tribeca All Access, IFP), Wonder Women! THE UNTOLD STORY OF AMERICAN SUPERHEROINES (SXSW premiere), and the Sundance award-winning film E-TEAM by Academy Award winner Ross Kauffman and Katey Chevigny. She holds an MFA in Documentary Film & Video from Stanford University and a BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
